The travel blog globalgrasshopper.com came up with a list of 19 amazing places to visit in July in the US. Several of these locations are also amazing places to camp with us! See what’s hot this July.
Yachats, Oregon
Noted for its extended hours of daylight, July brings days that consistently offer 15 hours and 34 minutes of daylight! July is also one of the drier months in Oregon and experiences mild temperatures. Plus, the rugged Oregon coast is always a sight to see! Yachats highlights include the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area with plenty of hiking trails and nature’s own entertainment provided by the crashing waves at Thor’s Well and Devil’s Churn. Don’t miss the opportunity to tour Heceta Head Lighthouse, the 131-year-old lighthouse that is still in operation. Another must-see is Sea Lion Caves, the largest naturally formed basalt cave in the country that is home to Stellar sea lions. Book your stay at Thousand Trails South Jetty to enjoy Yachats and the surrounding coastal towns.

Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio
Although it is one of the lesser-known resort towns in the US, this charming lakeside resort town was Ohio’s first summer resort and is probably a hidden gem. Book a stay at Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake and drive less than 20 minutes to see what this little town is all about. Walk “The Strip,” the town’s mile-long area chock full of restaurants, shops and family-fun venues like arcades and miniature golf. Head to Geneva State Park to experience views of Lake Erie with swimming available at Breakwater Beach. If exploring the area’s many wineries, the Wine Shuttle is an option where someone else does the driving and you sit back and enjoy. Details can be found at visitgenevaonthelake.com/wine-shuttle.

Monterey, California
July is the best month for whale watching at this popular central California coast destination. July and August are prime time for blue and humpback whale sightings. For something a little different, consider attending the California Rodeo Salinas scheduled this year for July 17-20 offering everything you’d expect from a rodeo including bull riding, roping, horse shows, plus a carnival and several musical events. Of course, strolling the famed Cannery Row, exploring Fisherman’s Wharf and visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium are always good choices when visiting here. Book a stay at Marina Dunes RV Resort or Thousand Trails San Benito to camp with us near Monterey.

Boston, Massachusetts
Boston in July seems almost like a patriotic duty. Even if you didn’t celebrate 4th of July here, the city still has plenty to see and do just as spectacular. Celebrate Bastille Day at the French Library, located in the city’s Back Bay, with a street fair featuring French music, food and wines (frenchlibrary.org) or watch amazing sand sculpting in action at the Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival July 25-27. Walk the Freedom Trail, enjoy Italian foods and pastries in the North End, take an iconic Duck Boat tour and explore the market stalls at historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace. Nearby campgrounds include Thousand Trails Gateway to Cape Cod, Old Chatham RV Campground and Thousand Trails Sturbridge.
