July 4th has passed, we all know that store displays touting summer items like picnic supplies, beach gear, flip flops, and fireworks will be replaced with Back to School items or worse yet, Halloween paraphernalia. To this we say, “hold on a hot minute” – there are plenty of days left of summer before we decide what pencils to buy and which witch is what! Make sure you don’t miss a minute of summer fun and get your summer bucket list in order. To assist, we took a few ideas from a list compiled by sunnylife.com as they relate to summer camping with us:
1. Head on a fishing trip
Sources say that Lake Tahoe is great in summer for lake trout so why not book a camp stay at Tahoe Valley Campground and try your chances. Van Buren State Park in South Haven, Michigan is a great summer spot for salmon fishing in Lake Michigan and is about 45 minutes from Thousand Trails Bear Cave.

2. Tour a brewery or winery
USA Today readers voted Troegs Brewery (troegs.com) in Hershey, Pennsylvania, the “best brewery tour in America” for the past four years running. A welcome beer, three samples and a souvenir glass might just be the reason to book a stay at our Thousand Trails Hershey campground and hop on over to Troegs to see what the tour is all about. From a winery standpoint, check out Rex Hill in Newberg, Oregon. About an hour’s drive from Portland-Fairview RV Park, this winery was voted by Newsweek readers as one of the best of the best in a Top 10 poll. Pricey but worth it, get all the details at rexhill.com.

3.Watch the sunset on the beach
Both Herring Cove Beach and Race Point Beach on the Cape Cod National Seashore were noted as places to see a spectacular sunset. Book a camping trip at Old Chatham RV Campground and check this off the list!

4. Visit a theme park
You couldn’t ask for better camping locations when it comes to proximity to some of America’s best theme parks. Come ride the newest attraction at Hersheypark, the Twizzlers Twisted Gravity swing, and camp at nearby Thousand Trails Hershey campground. Or stay at Pigeon Forge Landing RV Resort and visit Dollywood to ride the popular Tennessee Tornado coaster with its 128-foot drop!

5. Visit a Farmers Market
To some, summer at a farmers market is akin to being a kid in a candy store. So many delicious things all in one place! How much, how many, yes please. Here are a few good ones – Pike Peak Market in Seattle, the oldest continuously operating farmers market in the country, is one option. Although open year-round, the market is especially delightful in the summer with the fresh produce and flowers direct from farm to market. Stay at Thousand Trails Thunderbird. The Dane County Market, also called Saturday on the Square, has been delighting visitors to this Madison, Wisconsin market since it opened in the early 1970s. It is the largest producers-only farmers market in the US – which means no middleman, it’s all straight from farm to market. Stay at Blackhawk Camping Resort or Lakeland RV Campground in nearby Milton.
