It’s National Chocolate Month – who doesn’t love that? And while chocolate is celebrated all month, there is a special day for dark chocolate (February 1) and for Mint Chocolate (February 19). To make sure you don’t miss any day to enjoy chocolate while camping we’ve got two simple recipes for you.
Fireside Fudge

(recipe from thedyrt.com)
Ingredients
1 cup Nestle semi-sweet chocolate chips
⅔ cup sweetened condensed milk
1 tablespoon water
½ teaspoon granola
Instructions
Combine the chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk and water in a pan. Melt over low heat, stirring constantly to avoid burning. Once the chocolate chips are melted, remove from heat. Pour the mix into an 8-inch square pan, lined with foil. Sprinkle granola over the top and let cool. Let the fudge sit and firm for about an hour and then cut into 1-inch squares.
Cherry Chocolate Pudgy Pies

(recipe from tasteofhome.com)
Ingredients
2 slices white bread
3 tablespoons canned cherry pie filling
1 tablespoon semisweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoons chopped almonds (optional)
Instructions
Place one slice of bread in a greased sandwich iron. Spread with pie filling and top with chocolate chips and almonds (optional). Top with the remaining bread slice and close iron. Cook over a hot campfire until golden brown and heated through, about 3-6 minutes, turning occasionally. Open slowly and enjoy!
