The next stop on this RV road trip is Russian River RV Campground. This campground is 44 acres, and offers 125 RV sites, nine cottages, and is located right on the Russian River. While camping here, you’re surrounded by some of the best vineyards in the world!
Our crew is traveling in a 2016 Mercedes Winnebago View. It’s the perfect RV for this two-and-a-half week road trip through California and is essentially a home on wheels. It’s spacious, and has a number of multi-purpose pieces of furniture throughout to really maximize the space. The table pushes out to give you an extra foot or so of space, and also turns into a bed that’s comfortable enough for two adults. The cabover sleeping space is comfortable enough for two more people to sleep, and there’s a bed in the back. In this Mercedes Winnebago View, you can comfortably sleep five people and very comfortably fit four. The RV has a kitchen with a good sized refrigerator and a freezer, as well as a stove.
In addition to RV sites, Russian River also offers cabin rentals. These cabins offer full bedrooms with a double bed, a couch that pulls out into a double bed, bunk beds for kids, a full bathroom, and kitchen, all while being surrounded by the wilderness. For glampers or those who prefer to travel with a few more comforts of home, these Russian River cabins are for you.
We caught up with the manager at Russian River to learn even more about what makes this Sonoma area RV park so great. “We’re in the middle of wine country in Sonoma County and, of course, we’re about an hour and a half away from San Francisco and then an hour and a half [from] Bodega Bay or Mendocino and the Pacific Ocean, so we really have something for everyone,” the manager said.
For those looking for a combination of a nature getaway and wine country experience, Russian River RV Campground is the ideal spot. Guests enjoy an outdoorsy and wilderness feel while surrounded by beautiful trees and the sounds of the Russian River, all while being 20 minutes from beautiful tasting rooms. Additionally, in the summer, Russian River RV Campground is a great family getaway, where guests can go kayaking, tubing, fishing, and more, all while staying onsite.
If you’re looking for somewhere truly unique to stay when you’re coming up to California wine country, you definitely need to try Russian River RV Campground!
