December is all about pears – there’s the partridge in the pear tree and it’s also National Pear Month. We are going to focus on the other pair by highlighting things that go together, like sun and sand, or Buzz and Woody.
Hollywood and Vine: If you don’t know what this refers to, you might not be a film buff. Hollywood and Vine is the intersection of the two streets where the movie businesses were in the early days of film and also where the Hollywood Walk of Fame is centered. And it’s just four miles from the new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The museum, which opened this past September, is dedicated to the history and science of motion pictures and the first of its kind in the U.S. Plan a stay at Soledad Canyon and visit this all-things movies must-see (academymuseum.org).
Sun and Sand: Head to Florida to dip your toes into some of the best beaches in the U.S. that have been named to Dr. Beach’s annual lists of top beaches. Cape Florida State Park in Key Biscayne (near Miami Everglades RV); Bahia Honda State Park in Big Pine Key (near Sunshine Key RV); and Caladesi Island State Park (near Vacation Village RV) are just a few. On the Pacific side, California’s Coronado Beach has been named to the list several times (near Pio Pico).
Buzz and Woody: Head to Florida’s Disney World to find this pair made popular in the Toy Story films. Buzz can be found in Tomorrowland while Woody strolls the streets of Frontierland. Any fan of Toy Story should not miss the interactive Toy Story Mania! ride, also found in Tomorrowland. Book at stay at Orlando RV Resort and say Howdy to these favorites.
Parks and Recreation: All kinds of recreation can be found in our state and national parks from hiking to biking to climbing and caving. Speaking of caving, check out the spelunking activities at Mammoth Cave National Park (near Diamond Caverns RV Resort). Feeling super adventurous? Then head to Yosemite National Park and take a rock-climbing class (seasonal) (near Yosemite Lakes RV Campground). You can kayak the Painted Cave found in Channel Islands National Park near Santa Barbara (stay at Rancho Oso) or see the iconic trees at Joshua Tree National Park near Palm Springs, California (stay at Palm Springs RV).
