If you’re looking for a relationship that will last beyond all the hype of Valentine’s Day this year, why not check out what the great outdoors has to offer? Of course, everyone knows the great outdoors has a few different moods, changing every few months, but each of those moods is pretty fun. The beauty of spring, the warmth of summer, cozy fall and of course, the cheery holiday season and snow much fun that comes with winter. Here are few ways to celebrate with your new Valentine, all year-round.
Winter: The nice thing about the great outdoors as your Valentine is that winter can be spent a few ways – either soaking up the sun or enjoying snow sports. Consider taking the time to enjoy the great outdoors in Florida at any one of our 41 Encore RV Resorts available in the Sunshine State. Visit Disney’s Magic Kingdom and other nearby theme parks in Orlando; dive into all the fun in the Florida Keys and island-hop for a new adventure each day; explore the Gulf Coast and its award-winning beaches or the Atlantic shores with stops in Daytona, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Flagler Beach. Bird watching is at its peak in the Texas Rio Grande Valley in winter so naturally, it’s a good location for any lovebird trip and there are several great resorts to nest in while birdwatching here! If snow is what you’re seeking from your relationship with the great outdoors, head to locations like Leavenworth, Washington, California’s Lake Tahoe or Yosemite National Park, or Oregon’s Mt. Hood area for some great skiing, tubing, and snowboarding opportunities.
Spring: Go where everything is blooming as spring gets sprung. Check out Washington, D.C.’s cherry blossoms, the tulips of Washington State’s Skagit Valley, the blooming fields of Texas Bluebonnets, and the vibrant orange blooms of the California poppies. Hike our national forests which are waking up after a long winter’s nap with clearing trails and budding trees. On the Oregon coast, grey whale watching begins in earnest and runs from March to June.
Summer: Summer is the season for outdoor lovers because just about anywhere you head, there’s plenty of outdoor activity. Top summer vacation spots in the US include Cape May, New Jersey, with its great beaches and the charming town of Cape May; the Wisconsin Dells with its kitschy main street, water parks and good old-fashioned fun; any of the National Parks, and especially those we have campgrounds near including Yosemite, Acadia, Joshua Tree, and the Indiana Dunes National Park. With summer vacation time in full swing, road trips are an ideal way to experience long stretches of time away so consider a California coast trip, the Pacific Northwest from Washington to Oregon; a tour of the Adirondacks, and a New England circuit that includes Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. A southern road trip could include the Carolinas and the Natchez Trace Parkway through Tennessee. There are plenty of stops and campgrounds along the way to enjoy the great outdoors.
Fall: Leaf peeping, Oktoberfests, fall hikes, apple picking, and corn mazes are just a few of the things the great outdoors brings to the fall harvest of fun. For leaf-peeping, check out the color show near Maine’s Bar Harbor resorts, New Hampshire’s Tuxbury Pond, and Wisconsin’s Door County resort, Tranquil Timbers. Cincinnati, Ohio, is known for its Oktoberfest as is Fredericksburg, Texas, and Wilmington RV Campground and Medina Lake RV Campground are, respectively, great spots to camp while toasting these events.
