November is the month to be thankful and for that we celebrate Thanksgiving. But here are a few more ways and days to celebrate this month, and we’re excited about all of them!
Aviation History Month
Celebrate aviation pioneers and pilots alike all month and visit some aviation museums like Seattle’s Museum of Flight, Space Center Houston or the North American Aerospace Museum in McMinnville, Oregon. For camping destinations nearby, book a stay at Thousand Trails Thunderbird, Thousand Trails Lake Conroe, and Thousand Trails Pacific City, respectively.
National Sesame Street Day (November 10)
This day recognizes the impact and importance of Sesame Street, which premiered on this date in 1969! Head to San Diego, book a stay at Thousand Trails Pio Pico and spend a day at Sesame Place® San Diego.
National Happy Hour Day (November12)
Ok, this one is probably a marketing gimmick, but November 12 celebrates the happy hour. Consider safely visiting some vineyards, exploring a wine trail or visiting craft brewers. If you’re camping at Thousand Trails Bend-Sunriver, the Bend Ale Trail is an option (bendaletrail.com). Of course, Thousand Trails Russian River is located in Sonoma Valley so that’s always an option if you want to spend some time “wining.” Stay at Kentucky’s Thousand Trails Diamond Caverns and drive to explore the state’s famed Bourbon Trail.
Friday, the 13th
Yep, we’ve got one this month so stay away from those ladders, don’t let a black cat cross your path, and don’t get a haircut that day. But if you want to be kinda creepy, check out some of the scariest places in the US like the ocean liner, Queen Mary, docked in Long Beach, California (book a stay at Thousand Trails Wilderness Lakes); Winchester House in San Jose, California (book a stay at Thousand Trails Morgan Hill); or the Augustine Lighthouse in St. Augustine, Florida (book a stay at Encore Bulow).
Mickey Mouse’s Birthday (November 18)
Everybody’s favorite mouse turns 98 this year. First introduced in the short film “Steamboat Willie” in 1928, he has been making people smile for years! Head to California’s Disneyland or Florida’s Disneyworld to enjoy all things Mickie. Book a stay at Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon in California or Thousand Trails Orlando in Florida.
National Sardines Day (November 24)
Did you know sardines are considered a superfood? Celebrate this small, but mighty fish on National Sardines Day by spending it in Monterey, California which is considered the “Sardine Capital of the World.” Visit Canner Row and learn all about the sardine canning industry that was big here during the Great Depression. A stay at Marina Dunes RV Park puts in driving distance to Monterey.
