We’re up for the challenge and have found you 10 things to do in the Volunteer State, aka Tennessee, when camping with us at our three Tennessee campgrounds.
Thousand Trails Natchez Trace (Hohenwald)
Pick your camping accommodation at Thousand Trails Natchez Trace and then take in Music City as it should be enjoyed. As they say, when in Rome…but seriously, it’s not called Music City for nothing. The history, the culture and the attractions in Nashville almost all relate to music. So, the top three to-dos are: (1) Head to Bluebird Cafe and maybe you’ll see the next Taylor Swift perform. A small restaurant located just outside Nashville, the Bluebird Cafe is known for its acoustic performances performed by up and comers – one of whom was a young Taylor who performed here at the age of 14! (2) The Grand Ole Opry and Nashville are synonymous so head over to this gem to learn all about the history of the place that began as a radio show in the 1920s and evolved to become the epitome of “I made it” when it comes to country music! Lastly, see all the greats at the (3) Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum where exhibits include Johnny Cash’s guitar and Elvis’ gold Cadillac.
Thousand Trails Cherokee Landing (Saulsbury)
First book a stay at our beautiful 250-acre campground with woodlands and valley and opportunities for fishing, swimming and canoeing right onsite. Area attractions include (4) Graceland, the estate of the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, where visitors can tour the home and private airplane as well as pay homage to the King as Presley is buried on site; (5) Beale Street in downtown Memphis, considered the home of the Blues and the birthplace of Rock and Roll, with plenty of nightclubs, live music venues and restaurants featuring authentic Southern cooking; and (6) Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park, a beautiful outdoor experience overlooking the Mississippi River that has miles and miles of hiking and biking trails and is great for birdwatching.
Pigeon Forge Landing RV Resort (Sevierville)
With a camp stay at Pigeon Forge Landing RV Resort, you are close to the top attractions in the area. Don’t miss (7) Dollywood, the theme park co-owned by country legend Dolly Parton, that offers visitors more than 50 rides, live entertainment, dining, shopping and a waterpark. Another must-do here is (8) Forbidden Caverns, a set of caves once used by Native Americans that features an underground river. For an outstanding hiking adventure, check out the Sugarlands Visitor Center, which is part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park nearest to Sevierville. Here you can watch a film to learn about the park, tour the museum, and decide which trail you want to explore and how to see the amazing waterfalls here!
