The Sunshine State offers over 800 miles of beaches, so you’ll find a beach pretty much any way you’re heading. With so many to choose from, where do you go? For starters, the two beaches listed below are consistently found on any of the best of the beaches list when it comes to Florida. They are:
Siesta Beach: Often highlighted for its powdery, soft, cool sand (it’s 98% pure quartz), clear shallow waters great for swimming, shaded picnic areas and the natural landmark, Point of Rocks, a limestone formation toward the end of the beach. Don’t miss the weekly drum circle each Sunday that offers live music, dancing and a sense of community. This is a great beach to visit if you’re staying at Encore Terra Ceia.
Bahia Honda: If you’ve booked a stay at either of our Keys resorts (Encore Fiesta Key or Encore Sunshine Key), head over to Bahia Honda to enjoy great sunbathing, snorkeling and scenic views, which include the iconic Overseas Railroad Bridge. Bahia Honda is actually a state park that contains three distinct beach areas, Calusa Beach, Loggerhead Beach and Sandspur Beach with Calusa and Sandspur known for calmer waters thanks to being on the bayside while Loggerhead has stronger waves more ideal for kayaking.
Other great beaches near our campgrounds include:
Coquina Beach (near Encore Winter Quarters Manatee), which has white sand and is great for views of shorebirds and dolphins as well as manatees!
Lauderdale-By-The-Sea (camp at Encore Sunshine Holiday) is a great beach for snorkeling with three coral reefs and over two miles of sand.
If you’re staying at Encore Gulf Air and want to look for the perfect shells, head to Lover’s Key State Park.
Spending your winter at Encore Space Coast? Consider a trip to Cocoa Beach, which is known for white sand and great surfing opportunities. It is also home to Ron Jon Surf Shop, the largest surf shop in the world!
