With more than 200 locations in 20+ states, there is a lot to be thankful for when it comes to our network of campgrounds and RV resorts. We’re thankful for the opportunity to camp in some of the most beautiful locations around the country – whether it be close to the city or far away, set among the woodlands or near the shore.
Let’s begin with the campground that started it all – Thousand Trails Chehalis, located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and offering great views of Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens and is surrounded by excellent hiking trails. Then there’s Seattle and the Space Needle with a stay at Tall Chief Campground. The Evergreen State has 14 campgrounds in all.
Then there are the campgrounds that allow a leisurely drive down the Oregon coast where highlights include iconic Haystack Rock, plenty of historic lighthouses, hiking trails and opportunities to clam, crab and dip your toes in the Pacific Ocean or stroll along the sandy beaches. An Oregon Coast road trip would include camp stops at Thousand Trails Whalers Rest, Thousand Trails Seaside, Thousand Trails Pacific City and Thousand Trails South Jetty.
How about being thankful for camping in the sunshine – a very real possibility when you choose any of our California or Florida campgrounds. California offers 25 options from coastal to mountain to inland. Large lakes for swimming and fishing (check out Thousand Trails Lake Minden and Tahoe Valley Campground), rivers for kayaking and canoeing (camp at Thousand Trails Ponderosa for some great white water rafting opportunities) and big cities to explore like San Diego (camp at Thousand Trails Pio Pico or Oceanside RV Resort); San Francisco (stay at San Francisco RV Resort), and Los Angeles (camp at Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon).
Of course, the Sunshine State has almost as many sunny campgrounds as it does days of sunshine. Ok, maybe a bit of an exaggeration but camping in Florida, whichever coast you choose or sight to see, is super easy. Gulf coast locations include Encore Terra Ceia and Encore Fort Myers Beach to name a few and on the Atlantic side there’s Encore Bulow, Encore Sunshine Holiday, and Encore Sunshine Travel for starters. Visiting Orlando? Choose from Encore Tropical Palms in Kissimmee or Thousand Trails Orlando. Want to explore The Keys – consider Encore Sunshine Key or Encore Fiesta Key. There are 45 wonderfully sunny campgrounds here!
The Carolinas have several camping options both near the mountains and near the water. Emerald Isle RV Resort on North Carolina’s Crystal Coast has direct beach access while South Carolina’s hot spot Myrtle Beach is yours to explore while staying at Carolina Shores RV Resort. The beautiful state of Virginia offers you as many camping opportunities as it did US Presidents and that is lucky number seven. Explore historic Thousand Trails Williamsburg or learn all about the oyster with a stay at Bethpage Camp-Resort located in Urbanna, where the major trade for years was oysters.
Hit the south and enjoy Alabama offerings like Thousand Trails Hidden Cove, located on beautiful Smith Lake or see what Alabama’s Gulf Coast is all about with a stay at Gulf Shores. Tennessee has Thousand Trails Cherokee Landing, close to Memphis, Thousand Trails Natchez Trace, just outside Nashville and Pigeon Forge, located in the Smoky Mountains. Kentucky has Thousand Trails Diamond Caverns, the perfect campground to stay at while checking out Mammoth Cave National Park. Georgia has Pine Mountain
You might decide to go big with camping trips to Texas that offers 20 camping options from the perfect snowbird locations in South Texas to family fun in Lake Conroe as well as the Texas Hill Country. Check out Texas’ big city attractions in Dallas (camp at Thousand Trails Bay Landing); Houston (camp at Thousand Trails Lake Conroe) and San Antonio (camp at Thousand Trails Medina Lake).
