Camping Adventures That Are Trending Again

Did you have a favorite camping location or destination from your younger days – maybe a family trip or a college adventure? If so, according to a study by Campspot, you may be revisiting that place if you plan to camp this year. The study shows that travelers are gravitating to spots that remind them of simpler times or a desire to reconnect with the past. They studied five regions across the US to see what is once again becoming a hot spot to visit. They include:

Yosemite National Park (California)

You could spend months at this amazing natural wonderland and possibly still not see everything it has to offer. If you long to go back to reconnect not only with your memories but Mother Earth as well, book a stay at Thousand Trails Yosemite Lakes. You might see what you remember that thrilled you the last time, or see what you may have never seen before.

Miami, Florida

The hot spots, and we don’t mean temperature-wise, are the Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park. Lucky for you, nostalgia is nearby if Encore Miami Everglades is your home base to walk, or airboat, down memory lane. Lots to see in both, but in Biscayne National Park, don’t miss Stiltsville and the historic lighthouse on Boca Chita Key. In the Everglades, an iconic airboat ride is a must and possibly some glimpses of alligators with a walk down the Anhinga trail, a less than 1-mile paved boardwalk.

Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Considered the “gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park,” there is also the Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, the Gatlinburg Space Needle, a 407-foot-tall observation structure that provides amazing views of the Smoky Mountains, and plenty of shops and restaurants. Book a stay at Pigeon Forge Landing RV Resort and get ready to recall your first time here!

Bar Harbor

Thanks to the nearby hot spot of Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor is fast becoming one of the most popular US travel destinations. Acadia National Park has 158 miles of hiking trails, two sand beaches, the always-a-thrill Thunder Hole, and Cadillac Mountain for great views and of course, catching the sunrise. Take a whale-watching cruise, shop the stores in downtown Bar Harbor, visit the Abbe Museum to learn the history and culture of the Native Americans that settled here, or cross over to explore Bar Island after low tide. Three RV resorts to consider for a Bar Harbor getaway include Mt. Desert Narrows Camping Resort, Narrows Too Camping Resort and Patten Pond Camping Resort.

Lake George

Of course, the draw here is the setting in the spectacular Adirondack Mountains, but there are also history lessons to be found here, water sports galore and New England charm within the towns. For history, check out Fort William Henry Historic Fortress and Museum, Fort Ticonderoga and the Bolton Historical Society Museum. The question about water sports is really what can’t you do here on the Queen of American Lakes, as Lake George is known. There’s sailing, jet skiing, paddle boarding, parasailing, swimming, fishing…. well, the list goes on. Book a stay at Alpine Lake RV Resort, Lake George Escape Campground or Lake George Schroon Valley Resort.
