There are only two months to finish up your 2024 Bucket List. Celebrate fall in these special ways and get started making your list for next year!
1. Go Green: Thinking sustainably is more popular than ever, and what better way to celebrate than by camping in these “green” cities? Here are 4 cities to think green this fall: Seattle (book a stay at Tall Chief Campground); Portland (book a stay at Portland Fairview RV Park); Sacramento (camp at California’s Thousand Trails Lake Minden); or Washington DC (about 60 miles from Thousand Trails Harbor View.)
2. Take an Off-Road Adventure: Sign up for some of the best off-road experiences near our campgrounds which can include Sedona (stay at Thousand Trails Verde Valley) and check out safarijeeptours.com for options or Las Vegas (stay at Thousand Trails Las Vegas) and check out lasvegasatvs.com to see what’s available. Take a thrill ride to spice up your fall and make lasting memories.
3. Dive into the Bluegrass State: Make a reservation at Thousand Trails Diamond Caverns, our beautiful Blue Grass contribution to our camping family, which is set on 743 acres that includes an 18-hole golf course! Explore the ruins of Bell’s Tavern, a Civil-War era building that served as a strategic landmark for soldiers passing through the area. Or visit the Cave Valley Winery. Of course, the area is home to Mammoth Cave National Park, the longest running cave system in the world.
4. Embrace the Spirit of Tennessee: October 26 is the day to celebrate the 16th state in the union which makes October a good month to visit our Tennessee campgrounds. Thousand Trails Cherokee Landing, which is about an hour from Memphis is one option that also has nearby hiking trails and the interesting Bird Dog Museum. Thousand Trails Natchez Trace is where to stay if you want to explore Nashville and the surrounding small towns that make this a great fall destination.
5. Explore Horror Movie Sets: Hunker down at your favorite campground and watch one of your favorites but here’s some lead-up you can engage in: visiting horror movie filming locations! Oregon’s Timberline Lodge served as exterior shots in The Shining (stay at Mt. Hood Village Resort); Psycho’s iconic Bates Motel can be found at Universal Studio Hollywood’s theme park (stay at Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon); and California’s Bodega Bay played a major role in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds (stay at Thousand Trails Russian River).
6. Harvest on the Harbor: Book a stay at Thousand Trails Moody Beach and enjoy one of Maine’s biggest fall draws, Harvest on the Harbor, held in Portland, Maine. The event, which is scheduled for October 24-26, is one of the biggest, and most popular, food festivals in Maine.
7. Go Back in Time: Recognize the birthday of our second president John Adams (October 30) with a visit to the Adams National Historical Park in Quincy, Massachusetts (stay at Thousand Trails Sturbridge.)
8. Celebrate Oyster Fest: Get ready to shuck and savor at Urbanna, Virginia’s Oyster Fest this November! Book your stay at Bethpage Camp-Resort, where you can relax in nature before diving into the festival’s festivities taking place November 1-2. Whether you’re an oyster expert or just eager to try something new, there’s something for everyone!
