It’s always fun when the whole family gets in on the camping trip, but August gives you a specific reason to have fun when camping….it’s Family Fun Month!
Explore Virginia’s River Realm region and enjoy a family fun camping experience full of watersports, small town charms and plenty of oysters for everyone! Reservations at Bethpage Camp-Resort put the whole gang in the perfect spot for all the fun. Small town visits abound here as there are 8 great little towns to explore, with Urbanna being one of them, and each offers something different. Water adventure ranges from cruises on the Rappahannock to paddling and kayaking the local waterways (check out virginiasriverrealm.com for ideas on where to hit the water). The campground itself has a water park, beach and lake for more family fun opportunities.
Summer in the Adirondacks has been a popular family getaway since the late 1800s and the area in upstate New York has often been considered the “birthplace of the American vacation.” To plan a historic family fun trip, book a reservation at Lake George Escape Campground and be prepared for mountains of fun, literally! Take a sightseeing cruise around Lake George, head over to the Six Flags Great Escape and Hurricane Harbor for some thrill rides and waterpark fun or step back in time with a history lesson at Fort William Henry. Hike in the mountains or enjoy the many beaches here as well.
O’Connell’s RV Campground is guaranteed for a good time in the heartland. This Illinois campground has so much fun right on-site, nearby attractions are just an added bonus. Pools, waterslides, an onsite lake with fishing and canoeing opportunities, plus hiking trails and a whole lot of family events are found here. This is a great location for extended family fun – think family reunions or the last hurrah before someone heads off to college or starts that new job! Off-site attractions include the Amboy Marsh Nature Preserve, Anderson Japanese Gardens and the charming town of Dixon, which is home to Ronald Reagan’s childhood home.
How about a baseball/camping trip? Thanks to the location of our campgrounds, you can hop around and take in several MLB games. For example, a California camping adventure could see you leading off in San Francisco with a stay at San Francisco RV Resort where you’ll be in proximity to both the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park and the Oakland Athletics at the Oakland Coliseum. Then, head south to Los Angeles, book a stay at Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon and take in a Dodgers game. Move on to nearby Thousand Trails Wilderness Lakes and plan a trip into Anaheim to see the Los Angeles Angels. The final destination could be San Diego and a visit to Petco Park to watch the San Diego Padres with a camping stay at Thousand Trails Pio Pico. Midwestern baseball family fun could include our Ohio campgrounds with proximity to the Cleveland Indians (Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake) and the Cincinnati Reds (Thousand Trails Wilmington) – the campgrounds are just three hours apart!
