Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today or at least this month or in the next few. Don’t find yourself in the “should have” column when it comes to taking fun-for-all RV road trips. Here are two perfect summer trips (yes, there is still time) and two perfect fall trips to plan for.
For Now: Summer MLB in California: California is unique in that it has five, count ‘em five, major league baseball teams. You can make your way along the coast and take in the teams that include the San Diego Padres, the Anaheim Angels, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Oakland A’s, and the San Francisco Giants. If you begin in San Diego, you would head north to Anaheim, then LA, then Oakland and then San Francisco. Or go reverse and start your adventure with a Giants game and end up with the Padres in San Diego. Your camping locations would be Thousand Trails Pio Pico in San Diego, Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon for the Dodgers and Angels, and San Francisco RV for the A’s and the Giants.
For Later: Fall Leaf Peeping: Late September and early October are peak times for enjoying the fall foliage in New England. Camp with us and travel from our Bar Harbor resorts in Maine to Lake George Escape or Alpine Lake in upstate New York with stops along the way that include New Hampshire’s Tuxbury Pond and Thousand Trails Sturbridge in Massachusetts. Beginning in Bar Harbor, you then travel to Tuxbury, and on to Sturbridge and up to New York. The entire route is roughly 8 hours but you can stop along the way, camp with us, and enjoy the charming New England towns. The other option is to begin in Lake George and end in Bar Harbor. Either way, fall foliage should be on display all along the way. In Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park serves as a great spot to leaf peep. Heading into New Hampshire, you’ll hit the White Mountain National Forest and then make your way to camp at Tuxbury. From New Hampshire, you’ll head south to Sturbridge and see the colors in the Berkshires and then on to the Adirondacks and Lake George in upstate New York.
For Now: Southern Charms: Take in all the attractions of southern cities including Dallas, Memphis, Nashville, and Louisville on this southern focused road-trip. Beginning in Dallas with a stay at Thousand Trails Bay Landing, you’ll then head east to Memphis camping at Thousand Trails Cherokee Landing in Middleton, Tennessee, and then up to Nashville booking a stay at Thousand Trails Natchez Trace in Hohenwald (you can even stay in a tiny house for a fun glamping escape). From Nashville you’ll head north to Kentucky, ending up (or starting) your trip at Thousand Trails Diamond Caverns just outside Louisville.
For Later: Fun in Florida: This trip, which might be best planned for a winter getaway, would include Busch Gardens, Disney World, Cape Canaveral and the Space Coast, the Florida Everglades, and the Florida Keys. Starting in Tampa, spend time at Busch Gardens and camp at Encore Vacation Village in Largo. Then head to central Florida, camp at Encore Tropical Palms in Kissimmee or Thousand Trails Orlando and enjoy the Orlando area. Say goodbye to Mickey and friends and you’re off to the Space Coast and the Kennedy Space Center, with a camping stay at Encore Space Coast RV Resort. From there, blast off and head toward the Everglades National Park and plan a stay at Encore Miami Everglades. After your Everglades experience, make your way down to Key West with a stop at Encore Sunshine Key and make this home base while you explore the island of the Keys including Key West, Islamorada and Key Largo.
