The change of seasons does bring the season to an end at some of our favorite campgrounds, but there are still plenty of locations to make your camping calendar last through the last few months of the year.
Of course, our warm weather locations remain open and ready for business so consider the following for November and December camping experiences with the added bonus of festivals and special events going on nearby:
California Campgrounds: From north to south, plenty of year-round campgrounds can be found in California. Some fun to plan your visit around could include the San Diego Bay Wine and Food Festival, scheduled for November 9-13 (stay at nearby Pio Pico RV Resort & Campground or Oceanside RV Resort); Christmas on the Wharf, running December 2-18, in Monterey (stay at Marina Dunes RV Park); for a Victorian holiday feel, check out the Great Dickens Christmas Fair at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Set over 5 weekends from November 19 to December 18, the event is a one-of-a-kind experience (stay at San Francisco RV Resort).
Florida Campgrounds: Seek the sun and warmer temperatures year-round at our Florida campgrounds. With 41 locations throughout the state, you can’t go wrong when planning a year-end camping adventure in the Sunshine State. Events to consider when camping could include the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, which runs through November 19 (Orlando RV or Tropical Palms RV Resort); the 51st Annual Winterfest Boat Parade (near Sunshine Holiday); Space Coast Lights Fest which begins November 18 and runs through January 1, 2023 (near Space Coast RV); The Island Art Festival on Big Pine Key that features 50 artists with hand-crafted items and other art, along with music and food set for November 26 (stay at Sunshine Key RV Resort & Marina, conveniently located on Big Pine Key).
Texas Campgrounds: Our Texas campgrounds offer year-round camping fun so pick your destination, make a reservation, and get in some camping as the year draws to a close. Options with extra-special fun on the agenda could include The Lone Star Film Festival, set for November 10-12 in Fort Worth (near Bay Landing RV Campground); the 63rd Annual Home Tour and Holiday Market set for November 19 in Fredericksburg (near Medina Lake RV Resort).
Many of our Pacific Northwest locations also welcome campers year-round and again, special events are scheduled during the last two months of the year that you won’t want to miss.
Leavenworth RV Campground (Leavenworth, WA): In addition to all the wonderful outdoor activities available like hiking and biking, or skiing and snowmobiling once the snow falls, the town of Leavenworth is one of the best little Christmas Towns in the U.S. Beginning with the opening of the Chriskindlmarkt, the town’s annual Bavarian-style Christmas Market, which opens Thanksgiving weekend, along with the Village of Lights events that begin December 3 and run through the holidays, late fall and early winter is a great time to make Leavenworth your camping destination.
Portland Fairview RV Park (Fairview, OR): Gobble Up Portland, scheduled for November 12, is one great reason to camp at Portland Fairview which puts you in proximity of this premier food show featuring over 100 of best craft food and beverage makers in the Pacific Northwest. It’s free to attend and also has great foodie gifts as well as samples and tastings. Another fun Portland event is the annual Portland Christmas Ship Parade where more than 50 brightly lit ships parade the Columbia and Willamette Rivers on several dates throughout December (visit christmasships.org for details). For outdoor fun, hiking and snowshoeing are options.
