Colorful 2022

Did you know there is a whole psychology behind the colors we see every day, or more importantly, the colors we might be drawn to or perhaps seek to make us feel a certain way. For example, the color orange is supposed to evoke optimism and spontaneity while the color blue has a calming and relaxing effect on our psyche. Yellow symbolizes happiness while turquoise brings clarity and peace. What if you sought out camping destinations that were surrounded by a palette of these glorious colors that do your mind and soul good? Taking a nod from some of America’s well-known paint companies, we took a look at the colors they chose as the color of 2022 and looked to see what we could match with great spots to camp.

Pantone’s color of the year for 2022 is Very Peri, which they describe as a dynamic periwinkle blue. If you’re looking for Veri-Peri experience, try a trip through the Blue Ridge mountains, the fields upon fields of Texas bluebonnets fields in spring, and also Washington’s Skagit Valley during the Tulip Festival, which is scheduled for April 1-30 this year.

Laurel Leaf is the color from Better Homes & Garden which was chosen because during the pandemic people spend more time outside in parks and other outdoor spaces and are now looking to bring that color indoors. Bring it indoors if you will, but please continue to enjoy it outdoors in some of the most beautiful public parks across the country including Houston’s Hermann Park, Seattle’s Gas Work Park, Klyde Warren Park in Dallas, and Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park, all of which were named to USA Today’s Best City Park list for 2021.

Benjamin Moore has a whole color trends palette for 2022 that includes colors like Wild Flower, Pale Moon, and Morning Dew. When you think about it, aren’t those all the colors of a camping trip? A pale moon rising over the lake or mountain backdrop of your campsite. The morning dew when you emerge from your tent or tiny home to greet a new day of camping fun. The wildflowers you see along the hikes and bikes rides.
