Fall Bucket List

Summer is over and the holiday season is just around the corner, but there’s all of fall to take in. What’s the best way to spend these last few weeks before the holiday frenzy starts and winter sets in? We’ve got a few ideas and most of them involve grabbing as much outdoors as you can.

Ziplining

Valley Zipline Tours in Lancaster, Ohio, (about 90 miles from Wilmington RV Campground) has nine different lines to try as you soar over the trees on this 53-acre zipline adventure park. Mica Moon Zip Tours in Liberty Lake, Washington, (about 50 miles from Little Diamond RV Campground) has a variety of zipline adventures including a combo that mixes an aerial treetop and a zipline adventure. Hang on!

Biking

The Cape Cod Rail Trail is beautiful in fall especially because the cranberry bogs that you pass on this 25.5 mile paved trail are ready for harvest (stay with us at Old Chatham RV Campground). The Virginia Capital Trail is 52 miles of paved trail that runs from Richmond to Jamestown with beautiful scenery that includes several historic sites (Williamsburg RV Campground is just 7 miles from Jamestown).

Apple Picking

County Line Orchard in Hobart, Indiana, is open for business and has apples for picking, plus pumpkins and sunflowers (the orchard is about 100 miles from Twin Mills RV Campground).Parlee Farms in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts, (about 70 miles from Sturbridge RV Campground) is open for pick-your-own Tuesday through Sunday. They, too, have pumpkins, sunflowers and a farmstand full of goodies!

Corn Mazes

Check out Richardson Adventure Farm in Spring Grove, Illinois (just about 45 miles from Pine Country RV Campground) and see their 28-acre corn maze that honors the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, which was April 22, 2020.  Another significant anniversary is being celebrated this year at the Denver Downs Farm in Anderson, South Carolina, (about 20 miles from Carolina Landing RV Campground) which turns 150 years old this year! Come and explore their 12-acre corn maze and help celebrate fall. And one more big milestone to celebrate is the Cherry Crest Adventure Park in Ronks, Pennsylvania.

Stay at Circle M RV campground, which turns 25 this year, and their interactive 5-mile maze is open for more outdoor fun!

Halloween Horrors

A good scary mix of haunted outdoor places in America can include Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, considered one of the most haunted places in the U.S. Camp at the Gettysburg RV Campground and check out Sachs Covered bridge (we won’t give you the gory details). The Shanghai Tunnels in Portland, Oregon, have been declared the most haunted place in Oregon by the Northwest Paranormal Investigations. Take a walking tour of these underground tunnels and find out why (stay with us at Portland Fairview RV Campground)! Also, the New Jersey Pine Barrens (about an hour north of Lake & Shore RV Campground) is said to be home to a creature with leathery wings and a goat’s head (or the 13th child born in 1735 to a New Jersey woman) and the creature wreaks havoc on local wildlife.
