Pan Seared Tuna Steaks with a Soy Glaze

Ingredients:

8 ounces tuna steaks

Salt

Pepper

Green onion (chopped, for garnish)

Glaze Ingredients:

1/2 cup water

2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar

3 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce

2 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons orange juice

1 teaspoon minced garlic

1 teaspoon ginger (grated)

1 tablespoon green onion (chopped)

Instructions:

In a small saucepan, combine all the ingredients for the glaze and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer for 20 minutes or until the glaze is thick enough to coat a spoon. Take pan off stove and set aside.

Drizzle some oil on a large skillet and heat to medium high heat. Salt and pepper both sides of the tuna, and sear for one minute per side. Then give the edges a quick sear and place on a cutting board.

Cut slices on the bias and arrange on a plate. Drizzle glaze over slices and serve.
