U-Pick Orchards and Fields Near Thousand Trails Campgrounds

It’s not too late for apple and pumpkin picking! We’ve rounded up some orchards close to Thousand Trails and Encore campgrounds so you and your family can still get in on the picking action this fall! Plus, corn mazes and haunted hayrides, too!

Virginia

Bush Neck Farm is located about 14.5 miles from Williamsburg and is currently offering pumpkin picking! Get a big, round, pumpkin to carve and then toast the seeds for a great snack.

Just about an hour drive from Lynchburg is Layman Family Farms, a u-pick orchard in Blue Ridge, VA. This farm features a haunted harvest on Fridays and Saturdays in October, and a haunted hayride through their cornfields! Layman Family Farms also has a giant twisting corn maze and bounties of u-pick fruits and vegetables.

North Carolina

Deal Orchard was established in 1939 when Brack Deal and his wife, Thelma Isabelle (Belle) Deal, planted their first orchard. Now, Deal Orchards is a thriving orchard with over 100 acres of fruit. The orchard is now run by the Deals’ son, Lindsay. As of 10/12/16, the Deal Orchard still has a variety of apples to choose from including Golden Delicious, Jonagold, Red Delicious, Mutsu, Rome and Granny Smith apples. Be sure to check back during the rest of the year to see when their Asian pears, nectarines, and peaches are ripe for picking. Deal Orchard is approximately 30 miles from Green Mountain Park.

Still looking for pumpkins? Goose Creek RV Resort is just an hour and a half drive from Hubb’s Farm in North Clinton, NC. They’ve got pumpkins galore and are famous for their corn maze! Get lost for hours here picking pumpkins and navigating the maze. Plus, right now through the end of the month, they are featuring their Haunted Maze! Enter if you dare.

Massachusetts

Cook’s Farm Orchard is located in Brimfield, MA, about 11.1 miles from Sturbridge. They have apple picking every day from 10am-5pm and have an on-site bakery many New Englander’s have been visiting since the early ’70s.

Pippin Orchard is located about 94 miles from the Old Chatham Road RV Resort. Pippin Orchard has 20 acres devoted to fruit trees. In addition to apples, they also have peaches, pears, plums, and nectarines which are sold in season. Pippin Orchard also has vegetable beds with eggplants, peppers, and tomatoes. Many of these crops are sold to gardeners and occasionally harvested for local restaurants in Rhode Island.
